About The Polar Education Foundation
From the Arctic to the Antarctic and places in between, The Polar Education Foundation provides diverse youth with transformative educational opportunities. Our focus is on the fundraising and partnership development needed to support youth with these unique, experiential learning opportunities. These journeys cultivate a profound understanding of the polar regions and the global ecosystem. Through our programs, young people learn about culture, engage in Arctic policy, embrace environmental stewardship, and explore sustainability concepts, while examining global challenges and solutions. We are committed to inspiring the next generation and promoting sustainable practices through education. As a registered nonprofit with 501(c)(3) charitable status, we collaborate closely with the Students on Ice Foundation (SOI) to deliver impactful educational programming.
We work with partners and stakeholders across the USA and around the world to support these globally unique educational initiatives that equip youth with the knowledge, skills, and opportunities to take meaningful action in their lives, their communities and beyond. While our primary focus is on the Polar Regions, we focus on the interconnectedness of ecosystems globally, and work to raise awareness and take action on environmental issues such as climate change, pollution, ocean conservation and biodiversity protection. We promote cross-cultural understanding, environmental literacy, and facilitate collaboration and action on conservation efforts globally.
We are committed to amplifying youth voices, especially those from marginalized backgrounds, and ensuring their impactful contributions are included and recognized in diverse discussions on conservation and sustainability. Celebrated for our innovative approach, our impactful work has been honored with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the United States Congress and The Explorers Club’s Citation of Merit.

We use the greatest classrooms on Earth and embrace diverse worldviews to cultivate leadership, foster new perspectives, ignite ideas, forge connections, and facilitate collaborative solutions. We’ve been engaging young people since 2000 and our impact extends far and wide. We support youth in their journey from expedition to employment, creating a global network of changemakers committed to building healthy communities and a sustainable future.
